the studio space behind the shop- sable jewelry in the making.

spring in the studio...

Courtney Jones

With the sun streaming into our studio windows, we simply can't stay away! Spring always brings new inspiration and we love to see those moments come to life in our studio.

Unfortunately, we are often so focused on the creative side of our business, that we forget to share our process with you! So here is a little snapshot of how it all works behind the scenes...

Step 1. Coffee

I live a few blocks from the studio, so my days often start with morning coffee at home with my partner Michael. We will wake up and chat about new design ideas and projects to start the day.

Michael helps with jewelry production for Sable- so there is a bit of both of us in each piece you receive!

Step 2. Sketching

I do most of the creative design for Sable. I love to spend my mornings drawing out ideas and sketching new designs. This raw start to the process is always so exciting and full of inspiration.

A lot of the pieces will build on each other- new designs are born from old ones, and old designs are often reinvented. This free play is the foundation of each final piece.

Step 3. Fabrication

Once I have a direction of where to go, it's off to the studio. Each piece is fabricated by hand, inspired from the original sketches. This is where the magic happens. This is where things imagined become real. While working at the bench, I sometimes stray from the initial sketches- allowing the pieces to have a life of their own.

Step 4. Shipping

Once the dust settles, I buff each piece to shine before packing and shipping out. Each order gets placed in one of our custom boxes, checked by hand, and then mailed out to you with a personal note about our business. We are so incredibly honored to share our craft- our magic- with the world. We hope you enjoy!
